FAQ · AI content & watermarks
Read it with ExifTool (look for AI Software/CreatorTool, DigitalSourceType, or a C2PA block) or check contentcredentials.org/verify.
Run the file through a metadata reader. ExifTool lists every EXIF, XMP and IPTC field — look for a Software or CreatorTool naming an AI generator, an XMP DigitalSourceType set to trainedAlgorithmicMedia, or a C2PA/JUMBF block. For Content Credentials specifically, upload the file at contentcredentials.org/verify, which reports whether a signed “made with AI” manifest is present. Video files also carry encoder signatures (like “Lavc libx264”) that betray a non-phone source. Calabi Sanitizer’s forensic proof card runs the same checks automatically and shows C2PA containers, AI XMP flags and encoder fingerprints — each should read zero after cleaning.
